Corrections to the data
Please include the page address and what you believe is wrong, with a source if you have one. Most facts come from open datasets listed on the data sources page, and the methodology page describes the known limitations, so a quick look there may already explain what you are seeing.
Licensing and attribution
Each dataset keeps its own licence, listed on the data sources page. For questions about reusing a map or a page, or about crediting a source, write to the address above.
Teachers and schools
The teachers' page explains how to use the atlas in class. We are glad to hear what would make it more useful for your lessons.
Ideas for new features

Common Questions
- Can I use YearMaps maps in a class or a school project?
- Yes. Screenshots and quotations may be used in lessons, assignments and papers with a credit to YearMaps and a link to the page. The terms of use give the details.
- How do I report a wrong border or a misplaced place?
- Email support@yearmaps.com with the page address and what looks wrong, ideally with a source. Historical borders are reconstructions, so the methodology page may already explain a difference.
- Can I reuse the text or data on my own website?
- Each dataset keeps its own open licence, listed on the data sources page, and text adapted from Wikipedia is under CC BY-SA 4.0. Credit the source and follow its licence; write to us if you are unsure.
- How do I suggest a new map or feature?
- Use the Suggest a Feature form. Every suggestion is read, and the most requested ideas are built first.
